KARBALA IS CALLING ME.
What can I say that has not been said,
and what will make them know it?
What can be done to soften their hearts,
and what will make them show it?
What can I do to make them aware,
of the family of the Prophet?
Where is the light that will make them see,
if their hearts are running from it?

The 10th day the first month,
of the Islamic year.
An event remembered by many,
but for some its still not clear.

This is not a history,
its better that you read.
These few lines are just a reminder,
for a heart that felt the need.

Too many still asking,
Who died at Karbala?
Even today you hear them asking,
What is Ashura?

I wonder at some customs,
on a day of tragedy.
They wished it stayed a story,
but its a lesson in history.

Relax they say rejoice they say,
let us celebrate the Eid.
But hearts that weep and hearts that bleed,
have no time for such an Eid.
--------
That day was the believers genocide,
a warning to supporters that they too will die.
But still they supported and still they cried,
and still they follow and still they die.

Karbala is calling me,
I cannot join your celebrations.
Ashurah means much more to me,
than sweets and celebrations.
------
Do they want to turn us into fools,
paid off stooges and government tools,
smiling all the way to the bank,
just to frustrate the Muslim ranks?

That day of thirst that day of pain,
that day of blood have you no shame?
They said don't go and now they cheer,
full of smiles and not a tear.
------
What can I say that has not been said,
and what will make them know it?
What can be done to guide the hearts?
When the signs they are being kept from it.

Ya Husayn,
they said must stop.
Eyes are blind,
and hearts of rock.
Your cure is in
that tragedy,
maybe one day
you will see.
Ya Husayn
for all who think,
His message died
or they cut the link.
Ya Husayn
will always mean,
the path we love
and the path we dream.
the path of justice
against tyranny.........
